Thanushree Vale posted a big win at No. 3 singles
TULSA, Okla. - Kansas City Women's Tennis (0-2) fell on Saturday afternoon against Tulsa (5-2), 6-1. Thanushree Vale picked up the lone point for the Roos at No. 3 singles.
"It was a tough match," Head Coach Kendell Hale said. "We had nine game-deciding points on No. 1 and 2 doubles, and we only won one of them. We just couldn't win the big points."
The Roos fell in all three doubles matches, with a hard-fought battle at the No. 3 spot. Riddhi Sharma and Anastassiya Timofeyeva took the match to a tiebreak, but ended up falling 7-6 (5).Â
Kansas City played without Grace Ball, who earned a win at No. 3 singles in the Roos' first match against Illinois State two weeks ago. In her place, Vale moved up to the three spot and moved to 2-0 in singles on the year. She defeated the Golden Hurricane's Monfort in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
"(Vale) had a great match for us today," Hale said. "She battled well. We're excited to get everyone healthy soon."
The Roos are back on the court in a week, set to play Western Michigan on Feb. 20 in Kalamazoo.
