Kansas City men's soccer opens its season in an exhibition against William Jewell on Thursday
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - After seven years in the Western Athletic Conference, the Kansas City men's soccer team makes its return to The Summit League, of which it was a member from 1994-2013. In the league's preseason poll, the Roos were picked to finish fifth.
Additionally, senior Ryan Khedoo and junior transfer Cooper Clark were selected by the league as 'Players to Watch' heading into the season.
"I'm happy for Ryan and Cooper for being recognized for their past success," Head Coach Ryan Pore said. "Both players will have important roles for our team as we begin play in the Summit League."
In his junior season, Khedoo led the team in goals and points with four and nine respectively and was an Academic All-WAC selection for 2019 as well. He finished tied for 16th in goals scored and 23rd in points in the WAC. For the week of Oct. 14, he was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the golden goal in double overtime against Incarnate Word.
Clark looks to bring the Roos a stable presence in net after doing just that for the University of Tulsa for two seasons. He totaled 48 saves in 15 games, including three shutouts, which includes one of then-No.4 ranked Michigan State in his sophomore season. During that season, he was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the American Athletic Conference and the Golden Hurricanes were honored as College Soccer News Team of the Week for that win over the Spartans.
The Roos open their season at Durwood Soccer Stadium at 5 p.m. on Jan. 28 in an exhibition against William Jewell College (Mo.).
