
Softball to Host First Home Games on Wednesday vs SIUE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Home, sweet home. Kansas City softball (6-13) will play its first home games tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 and 6 pm CT. The Roos will take on the Cougars of SIU Edwardsville (13-5) at the Urban Youth Academy, the home of Kansas City softball.

The Roos are on the road for nearly 80% of its games this season, as they play 38 games on the road and only 10 at home. This matchup will be the first home game this season, already 19 games in. Last season, the Roos went 7-9 at home.

Kansas City and SIU Edwardsville have met up just one time in its histories, a 4-2 win for the Cougars in 2013 at the Blues City Classic in Southaven, Miss. The Roos were scheduled for another game against the Cougars in 2018 at the Red and Blue Classic in Oxford, Miss., but the game was canceled due to weather. Â

Senior Chyanne Onstad leads the Roos so far this season in batting average (.365), hits (19), home runs (three), slugging percentage (.615), and is T-first in doubles with four.

She is coming off the weekend at the Rock Chalk Challenge where she hit .385 with three doubles and a pair of RBI's through five games.

SIUE boasts a 13-5 record and have won two-straight coming into this double-header on Wednesday.

The cougars score a lot of runs, ranking 39th  in the nation in scoring with 5.89 runs per game and ranking 49th in the nation in batting average .307. SIUE also swipes a lot of bases, ranking 17th nationally in stolen bases (38).

The cougars are also very solid in the pitching circle, with two players boasting a sub-2.60 ERA. Their ace, Kennedy Lehn comes in with a 1.19 ERA. Their other pitcher, Emily Ingles, comes in with a 2.56 ERA and has thrown a no-hitter this season.
