Team Combined to Take Down Creighton at One Doubles
DENVER, Colo. - For the second week in a row, Kansas City Men's Tennis has been selected for the Western Athletic Conference TicketSmarter Athlete of the Week award. Last week, senior Tom Kruse won the singles honors. This week, Kruse and his doubles partner, Diego Giraldo, have earned the distinction for their performance in last week's match at Creighton.
"They were one of the bright spots of our duel with Creighton," Head Coach Kendell Hale said. "They played with a lot of energy, and they held their serve consistently."
Both Kruse and Giraldo have been honored by the WAC previously this season, as Giraldo won Player of the Month in October. This is the first time that they have won the award as a duo. They defeated Creighton's Mac Mease and Nick Campbell, 6-4, in the first flight to move to 1-1 on the young season.
Kansas City is at home this Friday against Oral Roberts at 1 PM as it seeks its first team win of the season.
