- The Kansas City Women's Soccer program opens up its 11th season with a home doubleheader this weekend, with Indiana State Friday at 7 p.m. and Illinois State Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be free for fans to watch on the WAC Digital Network (WDN).
- The Roos are back-to-back Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular-season champions and have won three out of the last five titles. The 2019 season is the final year as competitors in the WAC. The Roos join the Summit League during the 2020-21 academic year and will be eligible for conference championships immediately.
Looking at all-time home openers, the Roos are 5-2-3. Kansas City currently rides an eight-match (5-0-3) unbeaten home-opener streak into Friday's match. During that eight-match stretch, the Roos have out-scored their opponents by a 8-2 margin. The last loss came against Valparaiso on Aug. 21, 2010. - In all-time season openers, Kansas City stands 4-5-1 overall, which includes a 3-1-1 home mark. The Roos have won four out of their last six season openers, including the 2018 lid-lifter against Oakland (2-1) on Aug. 17.
- Kansas City was picked to finish second in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Roos earned six first-place nods and 61 total points behind No. 1-ranked Seattle U. Rylan Childers, Abby Small were selected as the WAC Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Halle Hamilton joined the pair on the Preseason All-WAC Team.
- The Roos welcome back eight starters and 16 returners from a 16-5-0 program from last year. One of those starters, sophomore midfielder Rylan Childers, is coming off an All-America and WAC Freshman of the Year season. She has already established school records for single-season assists (14) and points (36).
