The UMKC Athletics Department hosted its 10th annual Rockin' Roo Talent Show on Monday, April 22nd. This year's event was held at the Student Union Theater on the UMKC campus and consisted of three celebrity judges evaluating 12 teams and their acts in front of a crowd of over 250.
Acts varied from choreographed musical routines to dance numbers and skits. The judges, UMKC Athletics Assistant Athletic Trainer, Matty Richardson, UMKC Athletics Deputy Director of Athletics of External Relations, Curt Jacey, and Physics Professor, Dr. Robert Riggs, had a tough decision to make when selecting the best acts. In the end, the Women's Golf team walked away the winners. Women's Basketball came in second, followed by Men's Tennis in third place.
First place finishers, Women's Golf, featured all current players in a fun and humorous skit called “If I Weren't a Golfer”. Women's Basketball wowed the crowd as “old ladies” and won second place with a dance routine. The Men's Tennis team took third with a musical act that featured all team members showcasing music from around the world.
“This is always such a fun event, and the teams continued to step up their creativity with this year's acts. We had some truly talented student-athletes take the stage” said Amelia Howard, Assistant Director of Academic Support. “Once again, the student-athletes gave exciting performances and made the event a huge success.”
