
Men's Soccer: Khedoo, Cavanugh, Komodi Earn All-WAC Honors

Junior transfer, Ryan Khedoo, was honored with second-team All-WAC after bursting onto the scene for the Roos. Khedoo scored four goals this season (led the team) and added in one assist. He adds this accolade to his WAC Player of the Week award he earned for the week of Oct. 13th this season. Khedoo transferred to Kansas City from St. Louis Community College and hails from Brampton, Ontario.
"Ryan is an outstanding player, who played a significant role in helping to lead our team into the WAC tournament," said head coach Rick Benben. "His quickness and technical ability are top class."
Another attacker for the Roos, freshman Aiden Cavanaugh was honored as a member of the All-WAC Freshman Team. Cavanaugh, a forward from Saint Paul, Minn., scored two goals this season and had two assists to match."Aiden's overall play was excellent game in and game out, said Head Coach Rick Benben. "He is a great two way player who is equally effective in attack and defense."
Freshman Kevin Komodi was also honored as a member of the All-WAC Freshman team, joining teammate Aiden Cavanaugh. Komodi, a MF from Budapest, Hungary, racked up a team high three assists and added two goals while starting every game for the Roos this season.Â"Kevin is a very gifted attacking player," said Head Coach Rick Benben. "He can score goals and set up his teammates as well. Kevin has a chance to develop into a very special player."
Giacomo Caruso, Filippo Errico, Kevin Komodi and David Ray-Campoy were listed as honorable-mention for the ALL-WAC awards as well. Caruso, a senior defender from Termoli, Italy, scored one goal this season and played a total of 1377 minutes in that back line and helped rack up three shutouts. Filippo Errico, also a senior from Verona, Italy, ranked second in the WAC with 79 saves and is inching closer to second-all time in program history in total saves. David Ray-Campoy, a sophomore from Barcelona, Spain, scored three goals, had one assist and started every game this season racking up 1405 minutes played.Â

For Kansas City, this marks the first time a Roo has received the All-WAC Freshman Team honor. The Western Athletic Conference added this awards team in the 2016 season.Â
The team will be tested in its first round WAC Tournament game vs. Utah Valley, as F Blake Frischknecht was awarded WAC Offensive Player of the Year. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPN+.Â
