KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Men's Soccer picked up a pair of conference wins at home this week, defeating Incarnate Word 2-1 and UTRGV 2-1. Junior transfer Ryan Khedoo was a huge part of the Roos success, and was named Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He becomes the first Kansas City Men's Soccer player to earn this accolade since Eric McWoods in 2017.  Â
However, he did not stop the magic there. Just two days later, Khedoo added another goal to level the score 1-1 vs. UTRGVÂ in the first half. Minutes into the second half, he laid out to make a team save to keep the game leveled. Then, in the closing minutes of the game, he sent a beautiful cross to Mikhail McComie who buried the game winning goal to edge Kansas City past top ranked UTRGV.Â
In the aftermath of the huge week, Khedoo is now tied for the lead in goals on the team (2) with sophomore David Ray-Campoy. Khedoo was the only player in the Western Athletic Conference to tally two goals and an assist on the week.Â
Ryan Khedoo and the squad will look to continue the hot streak against number one ranked opponent Utah Valley in the Western Athletic Conference. It will be a matchup between WAC Offensive Player of the Week, forward Ryan Kheedo, and WAC Defensive Player of the Week, Utah Valley's GK Mitch Jensen. Kickoff is set for 7 pm CT at Durwood Stadium.Â
"Ryan had a big impact in both games, his quickness and speed are always a threat," head coach Rick Benben said. "He is a team player who works hard at both ends of the field."
Khedoo was heavily involved in the Kansas City offense, notching two goals and adding in an assist. His first goal of the week was a big one, as he scored his first Kansas City collegiate goal in double overtime fashion. He nailed the golden goal with just five minutes remaining to give the Roos the win vs. Incarnate Word (watch goal here). However, he did not stop the magic there.
