
No. 3 Roos Open WAC Tourney with No. 6 UTRGV

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hosting the 2016 Western Athletic Conference Tournament, third-seed UMKC women's soccer will face No. 6 UT Rio Grande Valley. The match is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. CT at Durwood Soccer Stadium on the UMKC campus.

About the Roos
UMKC (6-9-4, 3-2-2 WAC) finished the regular season tied for third in the conference. The Roos capped the regular season with an 8-0 victory over Chicago State (Oct. 29) on Senior Day at Durwood Stadium.
Sophomore Kelsey Mothershead (Smithville, Mo.) leads UMKC with 15 points, providing a team-high seven goals. Junior Kara Priest (Overland Park, Kan.), sophomore Reighan Childers (Grain Valley, Mo.), and junior Lilly Cobb (Glen Carbon, Ill.) have each added three goals for the Roos, with Priest tabbing four assists for 10 total points on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Lillig (Kansas City, Mo.) finished the regular season with a .717 save percentage, posting a 4-9-4 record in goal, including four solo shutouts and one combined shutout.
About the Vaqueros
UT Rio Grande Valley (10-7-1, 2-5-0 WAC) is led offensively by Sarah Bonney, who has scored 11 goals for the Vaqueros. Her 11 goals, paired with four assists for a total of 26 points, leads UTRGV and the WAC. Kinga Szemik is the Vaquero's primary goalkeeper, starting 11 matches and posting a 6-6-0 record. She has posted a .824 save percentage this season, recording four shutouts.

A win over UTRGV would pit the Roos against No. 2 CSU Bakersfield on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. CT. From there, a win would move UMKC into the championship match with an NCAA tournament automatic qualifying bid on the line. No. 4 Utah Valley and No. 5 New Mexico State square off at 4 p.m. CT on Thursday, and the winner will face No. 1 Seattle U on Friday at 4 p.m.
