Roos Open WAC Play at UTRGV Ahead of Home Tilt with NMSU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women's soccer opens the 2016 Western Athletic Conference schedule on the road, facing UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday, Oct. 7 in Edinburg, Texas. The Roos will then return to Kansas City to welcome New Mexico State for a Sunday afternoon match at Durwood Stadium.
Friday night's match with the Vaqueros is slated for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff, and Sunday's match in Kansas City against the Aggies will begin at 1 p.m. CT.

About the Roos
UMKC (3-7-2) is led offensively by sophomore forward Kelsey Mothershead (Smithville, Mo.) who has scored a team-high six goals on the season. Three of Mothershead's goals came in a 4-0 victory over Oral Roberts (Sept. 25) and was just the third hat trick in program history. Sophomore midfielder Reighan Childers (Grain Valley, Mo.) has scored two goals and notched one assist for a total of five points on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Lillig (Kansas City, Mo.) has stopped 45 goals this year for a .714 save percentage, and holds a record of 1-7-2 in goal.
About the Vaqueros
UTRGV (8-2-1) is led offensively by Sarah Bonney, who has recorded 18 points this season, scoring eight goals and notching two assists. Kinga Szemik has seen the most minutes in goal for the Vaqueros, making five starts for a total of 450 minutes. She holds a 4-1-0 record, tallying 15 saves for an .882 save percentage.
About the Aggies
New Mexico State (3-9-0) relies on Ashley Martin at goalkeeper, who has picked up a 3-7-0 record for the Aggies. Martin has made 69 saves and allowed just 19 goals for a .784 save percentage. With 11 points, including five goals, Aileen Galicia is the Aggies' primary offensive threat.
Up Next
UMKC will host Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 14 and 16, respectively before traveling to Seattle U and Utah Valley on Oct. 20 and 22. The Roos will then close the regular season at home vs. Chicago State on Oct. 29.
