
Roos Set for Final Road Trip of 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women's soccer will travel to Seattle, Washington, and Orem, Utah, for the final road trip of the 2016 season. The Roos will face Seattle U on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m. CT, before squaring off against Utah Valley on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. CT.

About the Roos
UMKC (5-7-4, 2-0-2 WAC) is coming off a 3-0 victory against CSU Bakersfield at home on Saturday, Oct. 16. The victory moved the Roos into second place in the WAC standings behind Seattle U. In the 3-0 victory against the 'Runners, junior Lilly Cobb (Glen Carbon, Ill.) scored two goals, her first-career multi-goal game.
Senior Niekie Pellens (Naarden, Netherlands) was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 17 for her performances in UMKC's games against Grand Canyon and CSUB. Pellens played all-110 minutes of the Roos' 0-0 draw with GCU as a member of the backline that held the Lopes to just eight shots and two on goal. She also played the full 90 minutes in the Roos' 3-0 victory over the 'Runners, holding CSUB to nine shots and three on goal, and also recording two assists in the match.
Sophomore Kelsey Mothershead (Smithville, Mo.) leads UMKC with 13 points on the season, including a team-high six goals. Reighan Childers (Grain Valley, Mo.) has scored three goals for the Roos and recorded two assists for eight points, and three other Roos, Kara Priest (Overland Park, Kan.), Cobb, and Abby Small (Kansas City, Mo.) have recorded two goals on the season.
About the Redhawks
Seattle U (9-5-1, 4-0-0 WAC) ranks first in the WAC standings, and is led offensively by Brie Hooks, who as recorded 13 points on six goals and one assists this season. Hooks is aided by Karli White, who has chipped in for three goals and two assists for a total of eight points. Ashley Routh is the Redhawks' primary goalkeeper, starting 13 games this season for a 4-5-1 record.
About the Wolverines
Utah Valley (7-6-2, 1-2-1) looks to Brooklyn Nielsen in goal. Nielsen has started 10 games for the Wolverines, and has posted a 5-2-2 record with a .843 save percentage. Offensively, UVU is led by Alexis Peterson who has scored a team-high five goals. Sydney Fitzpatrick has tallied seven points with three goals and one assist.
