
Hocking At It Again at the Red Wolf Open

(Jonesboro, Ark.) – The track and field team finished up their competition at the Red Wolf Open hosted by the University of Arkansas. The Kangaroos came home with several season bests as well as Blake Hocking having his best performance this season in the men's shot put—succeeding in breaking the school record once again. Both of the men and women's relay teams placed in the top three at the meet as well.
Starting out for the men's 100m dash was school record holder Daniel Prioleau, earning a second place finish with his time of 10.66 seconds. Following in seventh was Brady Adams running a career best of 10.84 seconds. On the women's side, Michelle Momo came in ninth with a season best of 12.08, as Kamaya Tucker followed in tenth with 12.15 seconds.
For the following race, the 200m dash, Kamaya Tucker ran a season best of 25.38 to take eighth place while Chantel Bethune came in eleventh, crossing the finish line at 25.89—also a season best. For the men, Brady Adams and Daniel Prioleau crossed the finish line at seventh and eighth place, respectively. Adams had a season best time of 22.07 seconds.
Next up, Chantel Bethune and Eric Yarbrough were able to both take eighth place finishes for the 400m races. Bethune completed the lap in 58.41 seconds, as Yarbrough ran it in 48.99 seconds.
Finishing second in her strongest event, the women's 800m, Veronica Rollins ran a career best of 2:15.16 minutes. Janelle Johnson, not far behind, came in fourth place with 2:18.68.
Competing in the distance races, Elizabeth Nolke and Katie Tuck finished the women's 1500-meter run in sixth and eighth place, respectively. Tuck ran a career best of 5:02.58 minutes.
For the 5000-meter run, Tabitha Griffith finished in third running the race in 18:15.06 minutes. On the men's side, Quinlan Moll grabbed fifth, recording a time of 15:06.93.
Incorporating the hurdles, Mallory Short ran the women's 100-meter hurdles in 14.43 seconds to take sixth place. Sydia Darker and Amani Borders competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles, each grabbing third and sixth place, respectively. Darker recorded a final time of 1:04.43, while Borders with 1:05.10.
For the men's 110-meter hurdles, Joshua Schirmer snatched a fifth place finish with his time of 15.08 seconds as Devin Burton came in ninth with his time of 15.25 seconds. Both of these times were career bests.
Terrone Garner and Zak Snow ran season bests in the men's 400-meter hurdles taking second and third place, respectively. Garner crossed the finish line at 53.56 seconds as Snow followed with 53.61—both rank second and third in the WAC.
Both of the men and women's relay teams were able to finish in the top three at the meet. The women's 4x100-meter relay team comprising of Lynette Cottingham, Kamaya Tucker, Blessing Oparji, and Traci Mills, finished third place with their final time of 47.13 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team grabbed first place with a time of 3:47.76 minutes that involved Chantel Behune, Kamaya Tucker, Janelle Johson, and Veronica Rollins.
The men's 4x100 team consisting of Eric Yarbrough, Terrone Garner, Brady Adams, and Daniel Prioleau finished in second place with their time of 41.83 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay finished in third with the help of Jason Shaw, Zak Snow, Terrone Garner, and Eric Yarbrough, recording a final time of 3:17.08 minutes.
Jumping in the sandpits, Traci Mills and Michelle Momo grabbed fourth and fifth place finishes in the women's long jump. Each recorded marks of 5.69m and 5.53m, respectively. Momo also placed eighth in the women's triple jump with a season best of 11.50m.
For the throwing events, Dahlia Dyson and Kelsey Benoit took tenth and eleventh place in the women's shot put. Dyson recorded a season best toss of 13.45m as Benoit recorded a mark of 13.44m. Dyson also placed eighth in the women's discus with her launch of 40.83m.
All three women throwers were able to place tenth, eleventh, and twelfth in the women's hammer. Dahlia Dyson recorded a toss of 49.81m, Yasmin Musaddiq with 49.42m (career best), and Kelsey Benoit with 48.19m (season best).
Rebecca Hasenkamp finished fifth in the women's javelin with her mark of 33.33m.
For the men's jumping events, Jeremy Harr came in seventh place for the long jump with his mark of 6.56m. Joshua Harden grabbed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.74m.
Blake Hocking claimed third in the men's shot put with his toss of 18.17m—career best, new school record, and ranks first in the WAC by well over 2 meters. He also placed tenth in the men's discus, launching a season best of 47.53m.
Kris Leverette took seventh place in the men's hammer with his toss of 52.09m.
The men's javelin included fourth and fifth place finishes from Harpreet Dosanjh and Alex Yoxall, respectively. Dosanjh recorded a mark of 58.73m as Yoxall threw a career best of 54.45m.
