New Mexico State Knocks Off UMKC in WAC Opener, 5-2

(Las Cruces, N.M.) - New Mexico State kicked off WAC play on Friday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over UMKC at the NMSU Tennis Complex.
UMKC (6-8, 0-1 WAC) played from behind all day, dropping all three doubles matches against the Aggies (8-5, 1-0 WAC). It was much of the same early on in singles play, with NMSU taking straight set wins at Nos. 1-4. UMKC came alive after the opening set at No. 5 and No. 6 though, dropping the first set in each. Raquel Argenal and Allie Schulte rallied for the wins in both the second and third sets though, and cut the final margin to 5-2.
The 'Roos will face off against Grand Canyon on Saturday.
