The Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team (6-21, 4-8) will close out its regular season road schedule on Saturday when it heads to Phoenix, Ariz., to take on Grand Canyon (12-13, 6-6). Tip between the 'Roos and the Lopes is slated for 3 p.m. CT on Feb. 28.

Samantha Waldron scored a career-high 19 points and Grace Mitchell notched her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, but the Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team fell to Utah Valley in overtime 61-51 at the PE Building. With the loss, UMKC falls to 6-21 overall and 4-8 in the Western Athletic Conference, while the Wolverines improve to 10-17 on the year and 4-8 in the WAC.
Individually, Washington grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and Bone added seven points off the bench, while as a team UMKC out-rebounded Utah Valley 45-33 and outscored them 13-4 in second chance points.
The Coaches
Nationally known for her top-notch recruiting classes, Marsha Frese enters her third season as head women's basketball coach at UMKC. Frese brings 16 seasons of experience as a Division-I player and coach to the UMKC campus. During her first two seasons in Kansas City, Frese began to establish her vision for a championship culture while guiding the 'Roos toward excellence, both on the court and in the classroom.
Trent May is in his eighth season as head coach of the Grand Canyon University women's basketball program and is the program's all-time winningest coach. In 2013-14, the program's inaugural season in NCAA Division I, May led the Antelopes to an impressive 21-9 mark with a 10-6 record and third-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference. The team earned a berth into the Women's Basketball Invitational, giving May's teams four straight post season appearances and five in the last six seasons. It was also the program's fourth straight 20-plus win season.

Last Time Against The Lopes
Grace Mitchell recorded her third double-double of the season, finishing with team-high's of 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 11 rebounds, with Kiana Law also notching her third of the season, tallying 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Kansas City women's basketball team fell 65-59 to Grand Canyon on Thursday night at the Swinney Recreation Center in WAC play.
For Mitchell and Law, it was the third time in the last four games that they have grabbed 10+ rebounds and the second time in four games that they both recorded double-doubles in the same game after accomplishing the feat on Jan. 17 at Chicago State. A third 'Roo, Aries Washington, meanwhile, nearly missed her first career double-double after registering 12 points and a career-high nine of the 'Roos 45 caroms. Officially, UMKC outrebounded the Lopes 45-20, with the +25 margin standing as the highest of the season for the 'Roos.
As a team, UMKC outscored GCU 28-18 in the paint and tied their season-high with 15 assists, while limiting the Lopes to just 38.8 percent shooting from the field. Individually, Waldron was the fourth 'Roos to finish in double figures, notching 11 points, including hitting 3-of-4 from long range, five rebounds and three assists.
