The Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team (4-19, 2-6) returns to Kansas City where it will square-off with longtime rival Chicago State (4-18, 1-7) on Saturday. The 'Roos and the Cougars are slated for a 2 p.m. tip on Feb. 14 at the Swinney Recreation Center.

Last Time Out
Samantha Waldron scored a career-high 17 points and Calli White added 15 of her own as the Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team fell 78-59 on Saturday afternoon to New Mexico State at the Pan American Center.
Waldron finished 7-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-3 from long range and White was 5-of-10 from the field and 4-of-8 from deep leading to a season-high of 53.3 percent shooting as a team, including a season-high 50.0 percent from three-point range, as the 'Roos fall to 4-19 on the year and 2-6 in the WAC.
The Aggies, who improve to 15-6 overall and a perfect 8-0 in WAC play, opened with 10 of the game's first 11 points, but the 'Roos fought back to close the gap to 16-13 after a White three and a jumper by Aries Washington.
Individually, Mitchell finished just shy of a double-double with eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds. As a team, UMKC outrebounded NMSU 33-26, but was undone by their season-high 33 turnovers that led to 42 points for the Aggies.
The Coaches
Nationally known for her top-notch recruiting classes, Marsha Frese enters her third season as head women's basketball coach at UMKC. Frese brings 16 seasons of experience as a Division-I player and coach to the UMKC campus. During her first two seasons in Kansas City, Frese began to establish her vision for a championship culture while guiding the 'Roos toward excellence, both on the court and in the classroom.
The 2014-15 season will be Angela Jackson's 12th season as Chicago State's women's basketball head coach. She is the program's all-time leader in wins with 123. She guided the Cougars to the program's best ever season in 2010-11 when her squad won the Great West Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Cougars defeated Eastern Illinois and Cleveland State on their way to the Women's Basketball Invitational Final Four. The 2010-11 team won a school-record 24 games. Jackson was named GWC Coach of the Year. Courtney Waldon was named the GWC Player of the Year.

Last Time Against The Cougars
The 'Roos starting frontcourt of Grace Mitchell and Kiana Law each recorded double-doubles and the Kangaroos outrebounded the Cougars 44-18, as the Missouri-Kansas City women's basketball team picked up its first WAC victory of the season with a 65-59 win over Chicago State at the Jones Convocation Center. Mitchell led the 'Roos in the contest, scoring a career-high 20 points, on 9-of-12 shooting, and grabbing 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and fourth of her career, while Law added 11 points, a career-high 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. As a team, UMKC shot 51.3 percent from the field (25-49), including 41.7 percent (5-12) from three-point range, and individually Waldron chipped in nine points, a career-high five assists and four rebounds and White added 13 points.
Defensive 'Roos
When the 'Roos hold teams to 59 points or less this season, they have won four games, while dropping only one contest.
Washington Goes Off
On Jan. 31, freshman Aries Washington had her best game as a 'Roo, scoring a career-high 22 points, with seven rebounds and three assists, while knocking down all 10 of her free throws, including four in the final minute.
10+ Two Straight
In the games at Chicago State and Bakersfield, the 'Roos starting frontcourt of Kiana Law and Grace Mitchell each grabbed 10+ rebounds. Law finished with 13 against the Cougars and 10 versus the Roadrunners, while Mitchell grabbed 10 in each game.
Perfect At The Line
This season, Calli White has finished perfect from the line in 12 games, including one game each finishing 8-of-8, 7-of-7 and 6-of-6. Overall, White is tops in the WAC at 84.7 percent, while sitting 22nd in the NCAA.
White Lights Up Bakersfield
At Bakersfield, Calli White scorched the nets, going for a career-high and UMKC season-high 27 points. In the game, the sophomore tied her career-high with six made threes on 10 attempts.
Mitchell's Hot Stretch
Grace Mitchell has turned up her game over the 'Roos last seven WAC games, as the sophomore is averaging 12.4 points and 8.9 rebounds, while shooting 59.4% from the field, all team-high's, during the stretch. Over that time, she scored a career-high 20, recorded her fourth and fifth career double-doubles, scored 10+ in five games and grabbed 10 rebounds in four games.
Double-Doubles
In the 'Roos game at Chicago State, the starting frontcourt of Kiana Law and Grace Mitchell each tallied double-doubles, marking the first time since Feb. 8, 2014 at Chicago State that two 'Roos notched double-doubles in the same season. Three games later, the duo accomplished the feat again against Grand Canyon. Mitchell now has four for her career and three this season and Law has three on the year. In her career, Taylor Leathers has two double-doubles as well.
Freshmen Contributions
This season, the 'Roos regular rotation has featured six freshmen, with the group averaging 29.8 points (53.9%), 17.2 rebounds (48.5%), 5.0 assists (46.0%), 2.3 steals (51.0%) and 1.6 blocks (66.7%). The players make up four of the top five scorers on the team.
Overall, the 'Roos second in the NCAA in minutes per game per player by freshmen at 50.4% of total minutes, trailing only Clemson.
Defensive Improvement
This season, the 'Roos have stepped up on the defensive end, as UMKC is allowing 9.1 less points per game (66.3 to 75.4) compared to last season.
On The Glass
The 'Roos are currently limiting teams to just 34.3 rebounds per game, the fewest amount in the WAC.
Good From Three
At the arc the 'Roos are tops in the WAC in both 3-pt. FG% at 34.1% and first in 3-pt. FG% defense at 30.1%.
White From Deep
Calli White has continued to be a top threat from long range as the sophomore has knocked down 48 threes this season, giving her 121 in her career, the fifth most in UMKC history. Her 37.2 percent clip, meanwhile, is also seventh best.
Law's Debut Campaign
In her first season in the Blue & Gold, Kiana Law is sitting seventh in the WAC in rebounds at 6.9 per contest, while ranking ninth in field goal percentage (43.8%), 15th in blocks (0.39) and 27th in scoring (8.0).
White Against The WAC
Currently, Calli White ranks as the sixth best scorer in the WAC at 12.6 points, while sitting first in minutes (37.0) and free throw percentage (84.7), sixth in assists (3.04), fifth in three-point field goals made (2.09) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (36.6%).
WA-WA WAC
In the WAC, Samantha Waldron is third in three-point field goal percentage (38.7%), 15th in blocks (0.39) and 25th in scoring (8.0) and Aries Washington is sixth in field goal percentage (47.2%), sixth in free throw percentage (78.0%), 15th in assists (1.95), 20th in rebounding (4.6) and 22nd in scoring (9.0).
Iron Women
Calli White and Samantha Waldron have been staples in the UMKC lineup this season as the duo have each started every game and is each topping the 30 minutes per game mark. White leads the WAC at 37.0 mpg, while Waldron is at 32.0 mpg.
In the game against North Florida, meanwhile, Waldron (45), Lexis Hardiek (41) and Kiana Law (25) all played career-high in minutes, while White (42) and Taylor Leathers (37) all played season-high's.
