UMKC Comes Back in Wild First Half, Ties Missouri State 2-2

(Springfield, Mo.) - The UMKC men's soccer squad came back twice in the first half to tie Missouri State 2-2 in the opening half Saturday night in Springfield, but no team could put up any more goals, and the contest finished in a tie.
The scoring got started in the 10th minute when Missouri State (1-1-1) got a shot outside the box from Emmerich Hoegg to find paydirt. UMKC (0-1-1) didn't take long to answer though, as senior Jordan Rideout took a through ball from senior Sylvester Yiadom, and finished the 1-on-1 chance in the 18th minute.
The goals were just getting started though, as the Bears took the lead again in the 25th minute on a strike from Brandon Barbero. The 'Roos were up to the challenge again though, when junior Roberto Albuquerque struck from long range in the 35th minute.
The teams went into the break knotted up two, with MSU holding a narro 5-3 shot advantage.
The second stanza saw each team generate five shots, while overtime was a 5-3 shot margin for MSU.
Chris McGaughey tallied seven saves for UMKC, playing all 110 minutes. Rideout's goal was the 22nd of his career, moving into second place alone on the all-time charts.
UMKC will play its home opener on Wednesday against SIUE at 7 p.m.
