
Seventh Athletics Hall of Fame Class Announced

(Kansas City, Mo.) – UMKC Athletics announced the 2014-15 Hall of Fame class on December 29, 2014. It is the seventh class in Missouri-Kansas City history, with six individuals and one team making up the group.
Joining the Hall of Fame this year is Dafina Dunmore (women's track and field/cross country, 1994-96), Angela Harris (women's track and field, 1995-2000), Glenn Hunt (men's track and field, 1998-2001) and Lindsey Zerr (volleyball, 2000-03) from the modern era; Darrell Corwin (men's basketball coach, 1973-80) in the coaching category; Herb Buchbinder in the contributor category; and the 1991-92 men's basketball squad in the team category. The official induction and dinner will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the College Basketball Experience, 1501 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64106. Modern Era
Dafina Dunmore – Women's Track and Field and Cross Country (1994-96)
Won the Mid-Con indoor conference title in the 800-meter run in both 1995 and 1996, while she was also part of the cross country team in both 1995 and 1996, winning Academic All-League both years… Also in 1996, Dunmore won the 800-meter run outdoors... She also took second in the 1,500 meter run, and was all-conference in that event multiple times.
Angela Harris – Women's Track and Field (1995-2000)
She was the Mid-Con Indoor Athlete of the Year in 1999... Harris won 12 Mid-Con titles during her career, including a four-time champ in the indoor 4x400-relay (1995, 1996, 1998, 2000) and three times in the outdoor 4x400 (1997, 1998, 1999)... Individually, she won the Mid-Con 60-meter hurdles two times (1999, 2000), the indoor 400 meter dash in 1999, and the 100-meter hurdles in both 1999 and 2000... Her name is still peppered throughout the UMKC record books, holding the school record in the 55-meter hurdles (8.04) and 100-meter hurdles (13.95)... She is also second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.61), third in the indoor 400 (56.74) and outdoor 400 (55.76), and fourth in both the outdoor 200 (24.73) and 400-meter hurdles (1:01.34)
Glenn Hunt – Men's Track and Field (1998-2001)
He is a seven-time conference champion, winning the Mid-Con indoor title in the 400-meters in 2001, and the outdoor 400 in both 1998 and 1999... In addition, he was part of the outdoor 4x400 meter relay championship team in each of his four years (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001)... He is still the school record holder in the indoor 400-meter dash (47.89) and outdoor 400 (47.42)… In addition, he is still in the record books in several other events, sitting second in the indoor 200-meters (21.93), fourth in the 55-meter dash (6.45), and fifth in the 100-meter dash (10.72).
Lindsey Zerr – Volleyball (2000-03)
She was a first-team All-Mid-Con selection as a senior in 2003 and earned second-team honors in 2001... She has her name all over the record books as well, ranking in the single-season top 10 in both block solos and block assists, while sitting fourth all-time in career kills (1,116), sixth in attacks (2,998), third in both solo blocks (75) and block assists (325), and seventh in kills per set (2.85)... Won the Lester Milgram Award for sportsmanship at UMKC and was a multiple-time winner of Mid-Con Player of the Week.
Coach
Darrell Corwin – Men's Basketball (1973-80)
He is the all-time leader in wins at UMKC with 118, and earned NAIA District 16 Coach of the Year in 1974-75 and 1976-77... He was also the NAIA Area 4 Coach of the Year in 1976-77 after leading the 'Roos to the 1976-77 NAIA National Tournament… He coached the NAIA District 16 International All-Star Team that toured Latin America in 1977... He coached UMKC in the 1978 NAIA International Cup Tournament where he led the 'Roos to wins over Portugal, China and Scotland... He chaired the NAIA District 16 Coaches Association in 1978-79 and was chosen to coach the NAIA District 16 All-Star Game in 1980... He received the 1980 Chancellor's Special Citation for extraordinary concern, guidance and leadership during his career at UMKC... He received the Lee's Summit School District's Certificate of Recognition in 1986 and was presented the Dick Howser Courage Award by the Kansas and Missouri Brain Injury Association in 1987... He was the Kansas City District Chairman for the Missouri Show-Me Games from 1988-90.

Herb Buchbinder
Long-time member of the Athletics Foundation Board… His generosity through the years has been exemplary and he has supported numerous projects, including, but not limited to, the major construction and renovation of locker rooms for men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball; the renovation of Old Swinney gym as a basketball practice facility, and men's basketball general program expenses… An avid basketball fan, he is also responsible for numerous new season ticket holders and donors through his consistent publicizing of the program.

1991-92 Men's Basketball
It was the first 20-win team in the Division I era in school history... The team finished with a 20-8 overall record (21-7 if forfeited game against UTPA is changed to a win), still the best mark in school history... The 'Roos beat Texas A&M twice during the season... They also topped Baylor and Creighton... The 'Roos were not in a conference yet, and they played the likes of Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Kansas State... The squad also had three of the best players in school history in Hall of Famers Ronnie Schmitz and David Robinson, as well as first-round NBA draft pick Tony Dumas.
