(Kansas City, Mo.) – Junior Jordan Rideout scored his seventh goal of the season on an assist from classmate Tato Chiaparro, marking the 'Roos only score in the 3-1 loss to WAC foe San Jose State on Friday night at Durwood Stadium.
The loss drops Kansas City to 4-8-4 overall and 3-4-1 in the WAC, while San Jose State improves to 3-10-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference.
Rideout's goal came in the 56th minute of play on a put back from inside the six yard box after Chiaparro's shot ricocheted off the upright and ended up at the junior's feet. The goal marks the 21st of Rideouts career, moving him into a tie for second place with Drew Perkins, eight back of Bryan Perez's 29 career goals.
San Jose State struck early in the match when Rory Knibbs scored in the third minute, marking the only goal for either team in the half.
Coming out of the locker room, Knibbs connected again for the Spartans scoring in the 47th minute to push the lead to 2-0.
After Rideout's goal cut the lead in half and gave the 'Roos new life, San Jose State killed the rally in the 82nd minute when Knibbs gave up his shot at a hat trick, instead dumping it off to teammate Felix Peterman who blasted it in from 12 yards out and secured the visitors' 3-1 victory.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action on Sunday when they welcome in Seattle U to Durwood Stadium in the final home match of the season with the 'Roos honoring their seniors on Senior Day.
