The Games
Kansas City closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend when it faces San Jose State on Friday night before celebrating senior day on Sunday against Seattle. The 'Roos look to get back on the winning track after dropping two on the road last week, while the Spartans are unbeaten in their last two. The Redhawks are unbeaten in WAC play and enter the weekend on a six-game unbeaten streak.
The Coaches
In his 16th season at UMKC, Rick Benben is the winningest coach in school history, posting a 116-144-33 record. Under his guidance, UMKC has captured four conference regular season titles and has made three appearances in the NCAA College Cup with the most recent appearance coming in 2008. Benben, the fourth head coach in the Division I era, was inducted into the UMKC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
Gary St. Clair is in his 24th season at SJSU and has a 215-208-40 overall record there. An alum of SJSU as well, he is a four-time coach of the year and has led the Spartans to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Peter Fewing is in his 20th season at Seattle and comes in with a 229-146-30 overall record. He led Seattle to the 1997 NAIA National Championship and the 2004 Division II Championship. In Division I, he is only in his second season back as the head coach.
