
No. 22 Blue Jays Take Out 'Roos, 3-0

(Kansas City, Mo.) - The No. 22 Creighton Blue Jays men's soccer team scored early and never looked back on Tuesday night in Omaha, knocking off Kansas City by a 3-0 score in a mid-week non-conference match-up at Morrison Stadium in front of 1,290 fans.
The Jays (10-3-2) got a goal from leading scorer Jose Gomez off a cross from Jose Ribas from eight yards out in the third minute of play. CU tallied its second goal in the 14th minute by Timo Pitter, putting the 'Roos (5-7-2) in a hole they couldn't get out of.
Creighton took the lead and a 7-2 shot advantage into the half. The contest's final goal came in the 60th minute from Vincent Keller off a pass from Gomez. The clinching tally gave the Jays their fifth consecutive win on the season.
The 'Roos managed four shots in the final half, while Creighton put up 14. The final tally was 21-6, with a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal in favor of the home team.
Both teams were able to get 17 players into the game, while UMKC got two goalkeepers into the outing. Tom McCarthy and Jordan Rideout each had two shots to lead Kansas City.
The 'Roos will get back into conference play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Durwood Stadium against Omaha in a big matchup for second place in the standings.
