
UMKC Ties School Record With 10th Win Of Season

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's team (10-12, 6-2) picked up its school record tying 10th overall win of the season and sixth Summit League win of the year with a 6-1 win over Oakland (5-6, 4-2) on Saturday afternoon at The Plaza Tennis Center. In all, five 'Roos registered two wins to complete the undefeated weekend for the squad.
The 'Roos opened up the day with with a sweep of doubles play, as the No. 1 tandem of senior Chelsea Horner and sophomore Eva Dalvai took down Jackie Dinicu and Caitlin Young 8-5. At No. 2, sophomore Suzan Lisenby and Laura Bouet defeated Karen Karoub and Demi Georgakopoulos, 8-2, while the No. 3 team of freshman Gabriela Pintos and junior Jillian Yakominich beat Grace Keating and Amanda Pettey, 8-6.
In singles action, UMKC registered five points led by Dalvai's 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 1 line over Young. Bouet, meanwhile, took down Dinicu, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 and Horner was victorious over Karoub at No. 3, 6-3, 6-0.
From the No. 4 line, Lisenby defeated Keating, 6-2, 6-1, while Yakominich beat Georgakopoulos, 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 6 position, Pintos rounded out the lineup with a losing in a super tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 8-10 to Pettey.
The Blue & Gold will be in action again next weekend when they travel to South Dakota to take on the Coyotes.
