
'Roos Tally School Record 11th Win Of Season In Regular Season Finale

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (11-12) registered its school record 11th win of the season against Cowley County Community College on Senior Day at The Plaza Tennis Center. The 11 wins by this year's squad tops the 10 recorded last season by the 'Roos.
Playing in her final home match as a 'Roo, senior Chelsea Horner played in her 29th win at UMKC, making her the winningest 'Roo in school history. In the match with the Tigers, the Overland Park, Kan., native downed Kristin Richardson 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles after falling at No. 1 doubles with partner Eva Dalvai, 8-4 to Zsofia Biro and Diana Davitaia.
In the match, three 'Roos picked up two wins on the day, including sophomore Suzan Lisenby, junior Jillian Yakominich and freshman Gabriela Pintos. Lisenby recorded her first win of the day at No. 2 doubles with partner Laura Bouet, 8-0 over Brittney Berryman and Shelby Cornejo before dismissing Berryman at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Yakominich and Pintos, meanwhile, teamed to defeat Jessica Evans and Mattie Craig, 8-1 at the No. 3 line, while in their singles matches, Yakominich took care of Mariah Vargas, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 and Pintos was victorious over Cornejo at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
In the squad's final match, Dalvai fell to Davitaia, 7-5, 6-2.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again next at the 2011 Summit League Championships on Apr. 23-24 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
