Kansas City, Mo. -- Former UMKC men's soccer player Levi Coleman was the hero for the Charleston Battery in his first professional soccer game for the USL2 club. The forward notched the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to lift his squad to the 3-2 win over the Charlotte Eagles.
After scoring the game-winning goal, Coleman was interviewed on Y1025 WXLY-FM in Charleston. Fans can listen to the interview on the Roo-Vision On-Demand feature by CLICKING HERE.
Coleman joined the Battery after being spotted at the USL PDL Showcase held at Charleston's Blackbaud Stadium in February. The forward then earned a roster spot following a strong performance in the preseason including his strong play during the Carolina Challenge Cup.
The Tulsa, Okla., native played for the 'Roos during the 2008 season, where he helped guide UMKC to a Summit League Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth. The Second Team all-Summit League and all-Newcomer team selection started 19 matches in Blue and Gold, where he finished with three goals and six assists for a total of 12 points.
Prior to transferring to UMKC, Coleman played two seasons at Florida International University.
