
Kangaroos Fall To Golden Grizzlies In Summit League Action

Rochester, Mich. -- The UMKC women's basketball team suffered a 75-50 loss at Oakland on Saturday night. The Kangaroos fall to 3-5 on the season and 0-1 in The Summit League, while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in league play. Peyton Adamson and Janee Williams both finished with nine points to lead the `Roos.
Oakland hit the floor running in the first half and never gave UMKC a chance to get in the game. The Kangaroos would struggle to get a bucket in the first half, shooting only 24 percent from the field. The Golden Grizzlies worked their way to a 19-point lead (29-10) with six minutes remaining in the half and headed into the locker room ahead, 34-15.
The second half wasn't much better for the `Roos and Oakland kept a safe distance for the rest of the game. The Golden Grizzlies led by 20 or more points in the middle minutes of the second half and jumped out to a 34-point lead, 70-36, with 4:20 left. UMKC finished shooting 32 percent from the field compared to Oakland's 69 percent.
The Kangaroos will be in search of their first Summit League win on Monday night at IPFW.
