
Kangaroos Fall To Jackrabbits In Summit League Action

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's basketball team fell 81-59 against South Dakota State inside Swinney Recreation Center. The Kangaroos fall to 5-9 overall and 0-4 in league play, while the Jackrabbits improve to 5-9 overall and 1-2 in Summit League action. Despite the loss, Eilise O'Connor finished with 14 points and Sam Sikkink contributed 11 points.
The Kangaroos were out-shot in all three categories and out-rebounded by the Jacks.
The `Roos led in the opening minutes of the game but that is the only time they would lead all day. SDSU countered with a 12-0 run in the middle minutes of the first half, jumping ahead, 17-6. The Jackrabbits would hold a comfortable lead for the majority of the first half, but the `Roos would get to within seven points (34-27), with 2:18 left in the half following a pair of jumpers from O'Connor and three-pointer by Sikkink.
That is the closest the Kangaroos would get to the Jackrabbits. SDSU held a comfortable lead in the middle minutes of the second half and extended its lead to 20 points (64-44) with 7:46 left to go.
UMKC takes a break from Summit League action and will head to Lawrence, Kan., on Monday for a match-up with the Jayhawks.
