
UMKC Hosts North Dakota State In Municipal On Saturday Afternoon

Kansas City, Mo. -- The Kangaroos are finally back in Kansas City after a three-game road stint to continue with Summit League play. UMKC will host North Dakota State on Sat., Jan. 17 at 4:00 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium. The Kangaroos are currently 7-9 overall and 2-3 in league play.
UMKC is coming off of a 68-52 loss at Southern Utah. Chazny Morris led all players with 26 points to go along with six rebounds, while Brianna Eldridge secured a career-high nine rebounds.
On the season, Morris currently leads the `Roos both overall and in The Summit League. The junior is averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds points per game overall and in the league she has 18.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
North Dakota State is coming off of a 20-point victory of IUPUI on Monday, Jan. 12. The Bison are 5-1 in The Summit League entering into the game with the Kangaroos and 7-7 overall this season.
The Bison have suffered one league loss so far this season to Oakland back on Jan. 3. North Dakota State dropped the road contest 61-47.
North Dakota State is led by Inger Hodgson and Abby Plucker. Hodgson has started and appeared in all 14 games and is averaging 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. Hodgson has recorded 29 steals on the season. Plucker started and played in nine games and averaged 14.2 points per game and 6.1 rebounds in that time.
Kangaroos Hold Their Own In League Stats
Despite having a 2-3 record in The Summit League, UMKC is doing just fine within the league on the statistic side of things. The Kangaroos lead the league in team steals with 170 in 16 games played. The UMKC defense is averaging 10.6 steals per game.
Chazny Morris is the front leader in scoring both overall and in The Summit League. Overall, Morris leads with 292 points for a 18.3 average in 16 contests. The Oakland, Calif., native is tied for fifth in steals (27) and tied second in three-point field goals made (37).
Undefeated in Municipal
UMKC welcomes North Dakota State into Municipal where they hold a 1-0 record in the 2008-09 season. The Kangaroos defeated IPFW, 64-60 back in December to remain undefeated in the facility.
`Roos In the Record Books: Update
It comes as no surprise that Chazny Morris will be all over the UMKC record books once she wraps up her basketball career as a Kangaroo. In her junior season, Morris already occupies eight spots in career top-10 and single season top-10 categories. Morris is in the career top-10 in scoring (8th), field goals attempted (8th), scoring average (4th), three-point field goals made (3rd), three-point field goals attempted (5th), three-point percentage (6th), free throws made (5th), and free throws attempted (6th) headed into the game with the Bison.
Mariah Davis has also found herself to be a part of Kangaroo history in just her 16th game in uniform. Davis has recorded 15 blocks on the season, which puts her seventh on the freshman top-10. In 16 games played, Davis is averaging 0.9 blocks per game.
