Kansas City, Kan. -- Former UMKC men's soccer player Geoff Miles helped the Kansas City Wizards to a 2-1 win over Mexican Primera Division side Atlas AC de Guadalajara on Friday night at Community America Ballpark. The former Kangaroo replaced midfielder Lance Watson just before stoppage time, with the Wizards scoring the game-winner in the second minute of added time.
Miles, who played for UMKC from 2001-2003, has been training with the Wizards throughout the 2008 Major League Soccer campaign. He has served as a guest player in the MLS Reserve division, appearing in two matches for the Wizards. He has tallied a goal in the league, scoring a game-tying goal in Kansas City's 2-2 draw against New England on April 10.
The Shawnee, Kan., native finished his career at UMKC with 49 starts in 56 appearances. He recorded 13 assists, good for fourth on the career ranks for the Kangaroos, and was a member of both Mid-Con Tournament champion squads for the Blue-and-Gold.
