Malcolm Harrison joined the UMKC tennis program as the head assistant coach in the fall of 2015. He brings a high-level of professional experience, as well as a winning college pedigree to the program.
Harrison competed in high-level professional tournaments, earning titles (Pearson Ford, Ind. and 2013/2014 John Mansueto, Chicago,Ill.) throughout the country. He traveled to Mexico and achieved an ITF World Ranking high of 820. Participated in ATP 100K Challenger Events, in Tiburon, Calif., Champaign, Ill. and Knoxville, Tenn. After traveling to Europe, he was ranked top 200 in the French professional ranks, top 30 in Switzerland and winner of two clay-court French titles in 2014.
Competed at a high level of NCAA college tennis at Northwest Missouri State, hosting a record at 65-5 at the #1 position. Arguably, the most successful athlete in school history. He helped to improve the team to a top 20 ranking D-II program.
He has practiced and mentored men’s tennis programs at Denver University, DePaul University, and California.
Harrison has also served as a practice partner for Venus Williams and Martina Navratilova.He was the traveling partner for Donald Young (currently Top 50) to Indian Wells 2014 ATP 1000 Masters Event.
He graduated in 2012 from Northwest Missouri State with his bachelor's degree.
