Ryan Kaufman is entering his first season as a volunteer assistant after spending the 2007 and 2008 seasons as a graduate assistant coach. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Kaufman played for four years with the 'Roos, helping the team to consecutive appearances in The Summit League Championship as a junior and senior.
A four-year letterwinner for the Kangaroos, Kaufman ended his career with 67 appearances for the Blue-and-Gold. He finished his career with 11 goals and five assists, leading both the 2005 and 2006 squads in scoring, with five and four goals respectively.
On the 2006 campaign, he was an ironman for the Kangaroos, finishing the season with 1654 minutes played. In addition to his goals over the course of the season, Kaufman was one of four players to tally in the Kangaroos' shoot-out win over Oral Roberts in the first round of the Mid-Con tournament.
As a junior, Kaufman scored three unassisted goals on the season, including a penalty-kick goal at San Diego State. He finished the season with 15 appearances, missing only the season opener at Saint Louis.
Kaufman appeared in 16 matches for the Kangaroos as a sophomore, earning the starting nod in all 16. His only goal of the season was a game-winner against IUPUI. He was also named to the U of L - Musselman Hotels Classic all-tournament team.
The Blue Valley Northwest graduate made an immediate impact as a freshman, appearing in 17 matches with 12 starts. He scored four goals on the season, including a game-winning strike at Valparaiso.
Kaufman earned is bachelor's degree in journalism/mass communications from UMKC in 2007.
