Nicole Villarreal joined Kansas City Athletics Sports Medicine Department in November of 2023. She serves as the Assistant Athletic Trainer with Women's Basketball.Â
Nicole is coming from the University of Louisville where she was the Assistant Athletic Trainer with Field Hockey. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Athletic Trainer with UofL’s women’s lacrosse program from 2020-22 and a Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer with cross country/track and field in the fall of 2020.
A 2018 graduate from the University of Iowa with a degree in Athletic Training, Villarreal earned a master’s degree in Post-Secondary and Higher Education from Arizona State University in 2020. At ASU, she spent two seasons with cross country/track and field as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer.
A native of Gurnee, IL, Villarreal is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds certifications in Functional Dry Needling level one and two, Graston MS1, Myofascial Decompression Technique level one and two, FAT Tool, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. She also serves as a preceptor for Athletic Training Students from neighboring universities. Nicole’s fun fact is that she loves to cook.
