Maria Mosquera joined Kansas City's Sports Medicine staff and enters her first year with Kansas City Men's Soccer in 2026. Mosquera brings high-level soccer experience to the Roos, including four years with MLS teams.Â
"I am excited about the opportunity to work in Kansas City because it allows me to collaborate closely with the coaching staff and sports performance team to provide holistic, student-athlete-centered care," Mosquera said. "I am passionate about supporting athletes through injury prevention, rehabilitation, performance and overall well-being, and I look forward to contributing to a high-performance environment."
In her current role, Mosquera focuses on the Roos' men's soccer team, traveling and covering practices, competitions and other team events. She assists in the operation of sports medicine facilities and provides comprehensive medical care for men's soccer student-athletes.
Most recently, Mosquera was the head athletic trainer for the Kansas City Comets. From 2022-25, she was with the Philadelphia Union Academy and MLS Next Pro teams. She joined Union after time with Sporting KC, completing a fellowship with them in 2022. In addition to her time with MLS squads, she spent time with Penn State Football and the RGV FC Toros.Â
Mosquera completed her Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University in 2026, also graduating with a Master's in Athletic Training from Lock Haven University in 2022. While at Lock Haven, she served as a graduate assistant coach for the women's soccer program.
Originally from Harrisburg, Pa., she graduated from Bishop McDevitt in 2016. She went on to receive her Bachelor's in biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2020, where she played was a four-year goalkeeper for the Mountain Cats.
Mosquera is certified in Dry Needling (SFDN1), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Teaching in Higher Education. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), College Athletic Trainers Society (CATS) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
