Jerod Fox was brought in as Kansas City's Athletic Communications Director in October of 2021, following two years as a Graduate Assistant in the communications department. He was elevated to the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications in October of 2023.
Throughout his tenure with the Roos, Fox has served as the primary media contact for three NCAA Tournament-qualifying teams. He has also nominated and promoted six conference Players of the Year and seven conference Coaches of the Year. Under his direction, the Roos have seen an increase in digital and social media coverage, including a redesign of the kcroos.com website.
As a graduate assistant, Fox guided KC's Athletic Communications department through the tumultuous pandemic year, serving as the primary media contact for the men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, golf and tennis teams. During his first year in KC, he played a crucial role in promoting and advancing the volleyball team as it made its first-ever postseason berth, qualifying for the NIVC, and for the women's basketball team as it won the WAC title and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
A former collegiate tennis player, Fox still has a love for the game. He has previously worked for the United States Tennis Association as a Digital Content Assistant, organizing and writing stories for the Missouri Valley district's monthly newsletter. He currently volunteers with the Stephanie Waterman Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides tennis opportunities for Kansas City's underserved population.
Fox began his path in athletic communications as a member of Hastings College Media during his undergraduate career. There, he spent time as the Social Media Director and was a familiar voice on the Broncos' basketball, volleyball, football and soccer broadcasts. With HC Media, he also had the opportunity to work six NAIA National Championship tournaments in volleyball and women's basketball. Through that experience, he gained expertise commentating, directing productions and operating camera and replay.
He is an active member of the Collegiate Sports Communicators community, serving on the Young Professionals committee and partaking in the mentor/mentee program. Additionally, he was a panelist at the 2024 national convention for the "Career Building & Finding Your Confidence" open forum and was featured in the September 2023 edition of CSC360.
A native of Newton, Kan., Fox received his bachelor's degree in Broadcasting from Hastings in 2019 before earning a master's in Higher Education Administration from UMKC in 2021.
