Kansas City Announces Women's Basketball Leadership Transition

The Roos will conduct a national search to find the program’s 12th head coach immediately
KANSAS CITY (Mar. 6, 2026) – Kansas City Women's Basketball will start a new chapter in the program's soon-to-be 40-year history, as announced today by Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin. The Dionnah Jackson-Durrett era comes to a close following her fourth year at the helm in 2025-26.
"I'd like to thank Coach Jackson-Durrett for the time and effort that she has poured into our women's basketball program. Her four years in Kansas City will be remembered by the impact that she left on our student-athletes both on and off the court," Martin said. "We wish her all the best in her future endeavors."
Jackson-Durrett was announced as Kansas City's 11th head coach in program history on March 30, 2022. A former college basketball standout at Oklahoma, Jackson-Durrett spent over a decade as an assistant/associate head coach at several spots before taking her first career head coaching role with the Roos.
In her four-year tenure, Jackson-Durrett amassed a 40-87 overall record and compiled a 16-50 record in conference games. Jackson-Durrett's time in KC was spotlighted by eight total All-League performers and two trips to the Summit League Championship Semifinals in 2023 and 2025.
Jackson-Durrett's first season at the helm saw the Roos win multiple games in the conference tournament as the 10-seed, upsetting seventh-seeded Denver and second-seeded North Dakota State to earn a trip to the semifinal round. In her second season, the Roos had three All-League performers and won 12 games, the most in a single season of the Jackson-Durrett era.
In 2024-25, Kansas City entered the conference tournament as the six-seed, their highest postseason seed of the Jackson-Durrett's tenure. The Roos took down third-seeded North Dakota State again, claiming their second trip to the Summit Championship Semifinals in a three-year span. Jackson-Durrett's final season with the Roos saw her develop multiple All-League players for a third consecutive season with Kansas City going 7-23 in 2025-26.
