Kansas City was picked to finish fourth in the league's preseason ballot
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Summit League announced the conference's annual Women's Tennis Preseason Poll and Athletes to Watch list Wednesday afternoon with Kansas City receiving voted to fourth place out of the seven teams in the conference. The Roos garnered 23 points, finishing above the likes of St. Thomas (5th, 15), Oral Roberts (6th, 11) and South Dakota (7th, 8).
Just above KC in the poll was North Dakota who totaled 26 points and gained the third position in the final tally. Topping the list were Denver who notched a league-leading 36 points and Omaha with 28 points. Kansas City improves on last year's expectations as the Roos were slotted in a tie for fifth place heading into the 2025 Summit campaign.Â
Making it to the Summit League Athletes to Watch list ahead of the season was KC's own Katherine Chrobak. A First Team All-Summit League performer in 2025, Chrobak returns for her senior season ready to lead the Roos to a productive year on the court. In her junior season, Chrobak was named a Summit Peak Singles Performer of the Week two times consecutively on Feb. 11, 28.Â
Chrobak played 14 singles matches all from the No. 2 position and delivered an 11-3 record. The Montreal, Canada native's 11 wins are the fifth most single-season wins from the No. 2 spot in program history. Chrobak also performed well against in-conference foes, going 4-2 against Summit opponents.Â
Kansas City's first serve of 2026 begins in Lawrence, Kan. as the Roos take on the Kansas Jayhawks on January 24.Â
