Contreras, Em. Bennet and Ugass earn double figure scoring marks in Roos close loss to the Fighting Hawks
KANSAS CITY – Kansas City Women's Basketball (5-12, 1-1) couldn't close out North Dakota (6-9, 1-1) as the Roos fell 63-60 in the Swinney Center on Saturday afternoon. Despite holding a three point lead after the first half, the Roos shot 34% from the field in the second half. Kansas City shot 37% from the field, 30% from three and grabbed 31 rebounds for the game.
The Roos were led by Alayna Contreras who scored a team high 16 points on 6-18 shooting from the floor to go along with three assists. Elsewhere on the floor, Tamia Ugass chipped in with 10 points and Emani Bennett scored a dozen points for the Roos.

- 1Q – 9:40 / 3-0 | The Roos passed the rock around the floor and found Contreras for a three point hit in the left corner on the first shot of the game to get the scoring started for Kansas City.
- 1Q – 1:15 / 15-13 | After a back and forth first eight minutes, the Roos got the lead thanks to Elauni Bennett's and-one basket off a tough offensive rebound. El. Bennett finished with seven total rebounds and four offensive boards.
- 2Q – 7:03 / 23-19 | In need of a bucket, Lisa Thomas drove to the basket and kicked the rock out to Zaire Harrell who popped a deep three pointer that laced the net to elevate the Roos lead up to four points in the second quarter.
- 3Q – 4:31 / 41-38 | In a tie game, Kelby Bannerman came through for Kansas City, sliding to her left with the ball and flowing into a smooth step back three pointer to break the tie and give the Roos the lead.
- 4Q – 7:29 / 54-51 | Coming off a missed shot, Bannerman drew the contested offensive rebound and kicked the ball out to an open Em. Bennett who pulled the trigger on a three ball that ripped through the net to give Kansas City the three point advantage late in the fourth quarter.

- Contreras scored 16 points to lead the Roos on offense, this marked her 10th consecutive game of double figure scoring and her fourth game in a row of scoring 15-plus points.
- Em. Bennett notched 12 points, making it her fifth straight game of double figure scoring and her 14th game scoring 10 points or more.
- Ugass recorded 10 points following her previous mark of 26 points vs St. Thomas which tied her career high. The senior has three games in a row of double figure scoring and six games of scoring 10 points or more this season.
