Omaha, NE. The Kansas City Roos experienced a magnificent victory over the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday afternoon with a final score 4-3. With this final win in the conference schedule, Kansas City Tennis clinches the second seed for the Summit League Tournament.
After tremendous doubles play by Omaha earned the Mavericks the first point of the match, the Roos in their singles matches would show resiliency by battling to the very end for the win.Â
Senior Thanushree Vale shined in her two set win 6-2, 6-2. Junior Michela Xibilia followed with another point for the Roos finishing her two sets 6-4, 6-1. After a tough loss in the first set 1-6, Freshman Anastassiya Timofeyeva made a great comeback scoring 6-2 pushing to the third set championing 6-2 to win her match.
"I give credit to Omaha for fighting well today! Our girls came out a little flat but as has been our trend, turned it on in singles", commented Head Coach Kendell Hale.
With the score tied 3-3 between the Roos and Mavericks, the deciding point would rest on skilled Senior, Grace Ball. Starting strongly with a first set score of 6-4, Omaha would take the second forcing the third set. In glorious fashion Grace Ball battled through a thrilling tiebreaker gaining the point and victory for the Roos.
"I'm excited we have clinched the 2nd seed for the conference championship!" ended Head Coach Kendell Hale.
