Brooklyn McDavid notched a double-double in her first career game as a Roo
DALLAS, Texas - Turnover woes plagued Kansas City Women's Basketball in its season opener, as the Roos fell to Southern Methodist, 75-63. Three Roos scored in double-digits, led by Naomie Alnatas' 15 points, five assists and three steals.
KEY MOMENTS
- 1Q / 12-5 | The Roos gained an early lead when Mandy Willems knocked down her first three pointer of the season on an assist from Paige Bradford.
- 1Q / 18-17 | Kansas City entered the quarter break with a lead following six-straight points from Brooklyn McDavid.
- 2Q / 26-24 | A Kiara Bradley three-point bucket found nothing but the bottom of the net and gave Kansas City a two-point edge midway through the second quarter.
- 2Q / 29-34 | RaVon Nero drove the hoop for an and-one bucket, putting a stop to a 10-point run by the Mustangs.
- 3Q / 36-41 | Bradford pulled down an offensive rebound for the Roos and dished it off to McDavid to pull KC within five, which is as close as they would be for the rest of the game.

- 4Q / 56-69 | Alnatas knocked down a triple with four minutes remaining to give Kansas City life and a chance to make a run.
- 4Q / 62-73 | Willems made the final field goal of the day for the Roos, who finished with eight three-pointers as a team.
STATS TO NOTE
- The Roos and Mustangs were identical in the paint, each scoring 34 points inside of the lane.
- Southern Methodist had an obvious advantage off the bench, outscoring the Roos' substitutes 44-to-9.
- McDavid and Bradley each finished with 12 points in their Kansas City debuts. McDavid also pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double.
- While the Roos forced SMU into 15 turnovers, they committed 20 of their own.
- The Mustangs out-rebounded the Roos by 14, including a 15-to-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
