
UMKC Defeats South Dakota State, 4-1

MERRIAM, Kan. – UMKC women's tennis (3-6) cruised past South Dakota State in a 4-1 victory Sunday at the Kansas City Racquet Club. The Roos won three singles matches and claimed the doubles point.
Melinda Johnson (Overland Park, Kan.) beat Morgan Brower 6-3, 6-3 in No. 2 play. Mariam Kurasbediani (Tbilsi, Georgia) defeated Maria Velazco 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 competition. Marina Albert (Thebes, Egypt) took down Emily Van Duk 6-1, 6-4 on the No. 4 court.
The Roos won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to grab the point.
UMKC returns to play at Northwest Missouri State in a 2 p.m. CT match Wednesday.
