UMKC Moves to 3-0 at Home, Rolls Past Washburn

(Kansas City, Mo.) - The UMKC women's tennis squad moved to 3-0 at home, taking out Division II Washburn on Friday afternoon, 7-0.
UMKC (3-5) jumped out to the 1-0 lead thanks to doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The Lady Blues took the No. 2 match by a 6-4 margin.
In singles play, the Roos dominated, winning five of the matches in straight sets. The toughest match came at No. 2, but Melinda Johnson came through in a third set pro tiebreak, 11-9.
UMKC will host Air Force on Sunday at the KC Raquet Club. Start time is set for 10 a.m.
