UMKC Welcomes Tulsa for Season Opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After winning 115-50 in a preseason exhibition, UMKC women's basketball is set for the season opener on Friday, Nov. 11. The Roos are set to welcome Tulsa to Swinney Recreation Center for a 7 p.m. CT matchup.

Tickets for the women's basketball season opener are available to purchase through UMKCKangaroos.com/Tickets or at the Swinney Rec. box office on game day. Single-game tickets start at $7, and general admission season tickets can be purchased for $50 while courtside tickets begin at $75.

About the Roos
UMKC women's basketball returns 11 letterwinners and four starters from last season, including 2016 Media All-WAC Preseason First-Team honoree Aries Washington (Kansas City, Mo.). Washington averaged 11.2 points per game a season ago, and with the return of Kiana Law (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Samantha Waldron (Omaha, Neb.), the Roos return the bulk of their scoring load. Law averaged 10 points for the Roos in 2015-16, and Waldron put up 9.3 points per game and a team-high 12.3 in conference games.
About the Golden Hurricane
Tulsa returns two starters from last season, including junior Erika Wakefield and sophomore Tyjae' Scales. Wakefield averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game, while Scales posted 2.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. The Golden Hurricane returns a total of eight letterwinners and welcomes five newcomers this season.
