Drake Knocks Off UMKC in Women's Tennis Friday

(Des Moines, Iowa) - The UMKC women's tennis team ran into a tough opponent on Friday afternoon, facing the Drake Bulldogs on the road, and fell 7-0.
The match was tight in doubles play, as it came down to a clinching point at the No. 2 spot. Drake (10-3) took the match at No. 3, but the 'Roos (4-6) came right back to tie it with a win at the No. 1 position from Dimitra Stavrianakou and Maddie Schulte. Drake won the deciding match though, and went into singles with a 1-0 lead.
Schulte and Stavrianakou each put up tough fights in the top two singles flights, but Drake pulled out the big points, taking a tiebreaker and a third set to win the match 7-0.
UMKC will face Iowa State in Des Moines on Saturday.
