Last Time Out
Making her UMKC debut, sophomore Daijane Dillard scored a team-high 12 points, hitting 4-of-8 from three point range, with five rebounds, three assists and a steal as UMKC women's basketball fell 62-55 on Friday afternoon at the Swinney Recreation Center in the season opener to North Florida.
Sophomore Kiana Law neared a double-double in the contest, finishing with 11 points and a team-high eight of the 'Roos 44 rebounds, while senior Taylor Leathers matched Law with 11 points, adding six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The Coaches
Nationally known for her top-notch recruiting classes, Marsha Frese enters her fourth season as head women's basketball coach at UMKC. During her first three seasons in Kansas City, Frese began to establish her vision for a championship culture while guiding the 'Roos toward excellence, both on the court and in the classroom. Under Frese's guidance, the 'Roos have established a standard of excellence for classroom performance as UMKC earned top honors in back-to-back years with the highest team GPA in all of Division-I women's college basketball for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
Kyle Rechlicz enters her fourth season as the head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team in 2015-16. A year ago, her team claimed UWM's first postseason victory in five years, featured a first-team all-league selection for the first time since 2010-11 and also had a member of the league's all-freshman squad for the first time in four seasons.
