Women's Tennis Heads to Michigan for Summit Cluster, Part Two

The Kansas City women's tennis squad gets back into conference play on Thursday when it travels to Rochester, Michigan for the final league cluster of the year. It will face Oakland, IUPUI and South Dakota over a two-day span.
THE OPPONENTS
Oakland - (Rochester, Mich.), Thursday, 8:00 a.m. CT
The Grizzlies are 2-9 entering this weekend's action, and have yet to play a Summit League match. The 'Roos have an 8-6 record against OU all-time, and have won the last four meetings. The last loss for UMKC in the series was in April of 2008.
IUPUI - (Rochester, Mich.), Thursday, 1:00 p.m. CT
The Jaguars are 4-12 and will be playing their first conference matches of the year. The 'Roos have a 6-8 record against IUPUI all-time, winning the last five meetings. The last loss to the Jags was in February of 2007.
South Dakota - (Rochester, Mich.), Friday, 8:00 a.m. CT
The Coyotes are 10-7 coming into this weekend and will be playing conference matches for the first time this season. Kansas City is 4-1 all-time against USD, winning the last three contests by 7-0 scores. The 'Roos only loss to the Coyotes came in March of 2007.
WHO IS COMPETING
Kansas City is playing Laura Bouet, Eva Dalvai, Suzan Lisenby, Amelie Amsallem, Gabby Pintos, Madeline Schulte, and Dimitra Stavrianakou in this week's action.
RECORD WATCH
UMKC's current roster boasts three of the top four all-time winners in school history in Laura Bouet, Eva Dalvai, and Suzan Lisenby. The group includes three seniors. The roster also has the top four doubles players in school history.
As a team, the 'Roos set a school record with 13 victories last season.
HEAD COACH KENDELL HALE
Kendell Hale is in his fifth season as the head coach of the UMKC women's tennis program. Overall, the 2012-13 season is Hale's 19th as a collegiate head coach, and compiled a 340-242 overall combined record coming into 2012-13. He has a current 47-73 mark with the women. Hale has coached nine all-league selections and was selected at the 2010 USPTA National Coach of the Year for his turnaround effort at UMKC.
2012 saw the 'Roos again break the school record for wins with 13, and they secured their first winning record since 1991-92 at 13-12. Laura Bouet and freshman Maddie Schulte both earned all-league honors. UMKC finished third in the regular season standings to qualify for the league tournament for the third straight year.
