Kansas City Faces No. 66 Shockers, Then Host Trojans

THE OPPONENTS
Wichita State - at Wichita, Kan., 3:00 p.m.
The Shockers are ranked No. 66 in the nation and have a 2-5 overall record. They are led by No. 2 player Rebecca Pedrazzi, who has 11 wins overall and is 4-3 in dual action. UMKC is 0-3 all-time against WSU, dropping a 7-0 decision last season in Kansas City.
Arkansas-Little Rock - at the Carriage Club (Kansas City, Mo), 3:00 p.m.
The Trojans are 4-2 overall on the season and come in after a 7-0 win over North Alabama. Freshman Kamilla Galieva and senior Veronique Luksich lead the Trojans with 5-1 records in singles play. Sophomore Michaela McShane is undefeated in singles action in four matches. The 'Roos are 0-2 all-time against UALR, falling 7-0 last season.
WHO IS COMPETING
Kansas City is sending Laura Bouet, Eva Dalvai, Suzan Lisenby, Amelie Amsallem, Gabby Pintos, Madeline Schulte, and Dimitra Stavrianakou to compete in this weekend's duals.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Roos fell by a 4-3 score to Northern Iowa. Eva Dalvai and Amelie Amsallem each picked up victories in singles action at the No. 2 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
HEAD COACH KENDELL HALE
Kendell Hale is in his fifth season as the head coach of the UMKC women's tennis program. Overall, the 2012-13 season is Hale's 19th as a collegiate head coach, and compiled a 340-242 overall combined record coming into 2012-13. He has a current 44-66 mark with the women. Hale has coached nine all-league selections and was selected at the 2010 USPTA National Coach of the Year for his turnaround effort at UMKC.
2012 saw the 'Roos again break the school record for wins with 13, and they secured their first winning record since 1991-92 at 13-12. Laura Bouet and freshman Maddie Schulte both earned all-league honors. UMKC finished third in the regular season standings to qualify for the league tournament for the third straight year.
Before joining the UMKC coaching staff, Hale spent 11 years as the head coach at Rockhurst University, where he led the Hawks to nine NCAA Tournament appearances.
