
UMKC Falls At Missouri On Saturday Afternoon

Columbia, Mo. -- The UMKC women's basketball team fell at Missouri, 72-48, on Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos fall to 3-7 overall, while the Tigers improve to 5-4 on the season. Despite the loss, Kim Nezianya had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Mizzou took possession of the ball immediately and never looked back, going on a 10-0 run in the first five minutes of the game to jump ahead, 12-2. The Kangaroos were able to get within eight during the middle minutes of the first half, following a Dayon Hall-Jones three, making it 17-9. RaeShara Brown got the Tigers back up by 15 points with a three, she would finish the game with 18 points to lead all players.
The sophomore duo of Nezianya and Kaycie Boyles went to work late in the first and got UMKC to within nine points, 26-17, with 4:39 left in the half. But Mizzou's Brown was able to counter and lead her team to a 36-24 halftime lead.
The UMKC baskets would be tough to come by all day but particularly in the second half. The `Roos would have to work extremely hard down low while Missouri's points seemed to come effortlessly. The Tigers jumped out to a 20 point lead, 57-37, with 10 minutes on the clock.
Despite the Kangaroos efforts, Mizzou jumped out to a 30 point lead with six minutes on the clock. Nezianya and Sam Sikkink were able to sink a pair of free throws a piece to get the score within 24.
The Tigers had three players finish in double figures and shot .483 percent from the floor compared to the `Roos .283. The Kangaroos also had some problems breaking the Tigers full court pressure, resulting in 19 total turnovers compared to Mizzou's 14.
UMKC will play in the Lady Osprey Holiday Classic on Dec. 18-19 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Kangaroos will face Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 18 and Troy on the 19th.
