Zac Shaw enters his third year on the Kansas City Softball staff in the 2021-22 season. In his current role, he serves as the Roos' hitting and infield coach, as well as coordinating recruiting and assisting with office duties.
In Shaw's first full season, the Roos ranked second in the Summit League in most major batting categories, including a .274 overall batting average. The Roos' 250 total runs, 60 doubles, 38 homeruns and .346 OBP were all also second in the Summit. KC finished the year 29-26, qualifying for the Summit League Tournament as the four-seed and defeating sixth-ranked Oklahoma State early in the season. Lia Lombardini, Kloe Hilbrenner and Ally Vonfeldt were all named First Team All-Summit, while Alexis D'Ambrosio was named to the Second Team. Hilbrenner led in the Summit with 68 total hits, while Vonfeldt was second in the league with 13 total home runs.
The 2019-20 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, but in the 19 games played, KC batted at a .243 clip and fielded at a .947 clip.
Shaw is also currently a part of the 22-man pool for the USA men's fastpitch team, which competes in international competitions such as the Pan-Am games.
He spent 2017-19 as a graduate manager for the University of Missouri's Softball team, aiding the Tigers to three NCAA Tournament bids as he earned his master's degree in Positive Coaching.
Originally from Odessa, Mo., Shaw graduated from Odessa HS in 2012 before attending Longview CC during his freshman and sophomore years. He continued his baseball career at Emporia State University, posting a .389 batting average during his junior year. While at ESU, he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Shaw has NFCA certifications and currently resides in Grain Valley, Mo.
