Laura Munoz-Baroja has been named Academic All-Summit and College Sport Communicators Academic All-District
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Tennis' Laura Munoz-Baroja continues to garner honors for her excellence in the classroom and on the tennis court. After earning Scholar of the Championship honors at the Summit League Tennis Championships last month, Munoz-Baroja has been named to the College Sport Communicators' Academic All-District list and was one of seven Academic All-Summit League honorees.
"What can you say about someone that has a near-perfect GPA in Electrical Engineering and is an athlete at the same time? It shows what great discipline she has, what great time management she has, and I couldn't be prouder of Laura," Head Coach Kendell Hale said.
Munoz-Baroja is a senior in UMKC's Electrical Engineering program, boasting a 3.98 GPA. In addition, she played at the No. 3 singles spot for the Roos this season, notching six wins. She also teamed up with Michela Xibilia at the No. 1 doubles position, winning seven matches on the season. She played a vital role in helping KC secure the second seed at the Summit League Championships in April.
To go along with her Academic All-District award, she will now be eligible to earn Academic All-American honors from the CSC.
