The Roos begin their cross country season this Saturday in Lawrence
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League officially announced its cross country preseason polls and 'Athletes to Watch' list this afternoon. Kansas City men's and women's cross country were both selected to finish sixth in the league, while Caleb Feuerbacher, Katherine Hanners and Sommer Herner were all named Athletes to Watch.
In last season's return to action, the women finished sixth at the league meet, while the men finished seventh. Hanners led the Roos on the women's side with a third-place individual finish, while Feuerbacher had KC's best finish on the men's side.
Feuerbacher looks to build upon last year's results, running in four meets. His best 8K time came at the Arturo Barrios Invite, running a 26:04.1.
Hanners returns after competing in all six races for the Roos last season. She was KC's top finisher in five-of-six races, including top-five finishes at the Bob Timmons Classic and Summit League Championships.
Herner returns to Kansas City after spending her freshman and sophomore years with the Roos. Last year at Kansas, she took first place at the Bob Timmons Classic. She still stands as the only Roo in program history to win the WAC Outstanding Track Athlete and High Point awards at the same time.
The Roos open up cross country competition at the Bob Timmons Classic on Saturday.
