Sports personality Dani Welniak to host and moderate October 25th Event
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Athletics Department announced that the Roo Basketball Gala has changed dates from October 3rd to October 25th. The event will take place at Swinney Center from 6 - 9 p.m. and is Kansas City Athletics' premier fund-raising event.
KCTV5 Sports Reporter and Anchor Dani Welniak will be the host and moderator of the event which will feature Director of Athletics, Brandon Martin, as well as basketball head coaches Billy Donlon and Jacie Hoyt. Fans will also meet the 2019-20 Roo Men's and Women's Basketball teams at the event.
Welniak has been a reporter and anchor at KCTV5 since 2016 and has quickly become one of Kansas City's most notable sports personalities. The Oklahoma State graduate played women's professional football for the Dallas Diamonds and served as team captain, was a three-time Pro Bowler and a 2008 Super Bowl Champion. Welniak's success is drawn from a simple mantra of faith and family first.
"I am extremely excited to host the Roo Basketball Gala," states Welniak. "Kansas City Athletics has created a buzz in town under the Leadership of Dr. Martin. To be able to provide a platform for fans to get know Billy and Jacie and their teams is a great opportunity."
For many fans, this will be their first opportunity to see the renovations at Swinney Center. A new competition court, four new state-of-the-art videoboards and a new north lobby entrance are just a few of the many changes Dr. Martin and his team have made this summer.
